About AVIF to JPG
AVIF is a modern image format with very small file sizes, but many editors, apps and older devices cannot open it yet. Convert it to JPG here and you get a file that works nearly everywhere. The tool relies on your browser to read AVIF, and the work happens on your device.
How to use this tool
- Choose your AVIF images or drag them onto the page.
- Adjust the quality slider if you need a smaller file.
- Download the JPG copies.
Good to know
- This tool needs a browser that can display AVIF. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can.
- Transparent areas in an AVIF image become white in the JPG.
- Because AVIF is so efficient, the JPG is usually larger than the original.
Frequently asked questions
Why won’t my AVIF file convert?
If your browser cannot display AVIF, it cannot convert it either. Update your browser or try another one such as a current Chrome or Firefox.
What is AVIF?
AVIF is an image format built on video compression technology. It produces much smaller files than JPG at similar quality, but support in older software is limited.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your file is processed in your browser and its contents are not sent to DockFlip. The first time you use a tool, your browser may download the conversion library it needs from a public CDN (cdnjs or jsDelivr), but that download does not include your file.
Is DockFlip free?
Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no cap on how many files you convert. The only limits are file size (100 MB per file) and what your device can handle in memory. Ads may be added later to cover running costs.
Why might a conversion fail?
The file may be damaged, in a format your browser cannot read, password-protected, or too large for your device’s memory. Try one file at a time, or a smaller file, and make sure you have a connection the first time so the converter can load.
