About HEIC to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. The format keeps files small, but many Windows apps, websites and printers cannot open it. This tool converts HEIC and HEIF photos to standard JPG files that work everywhere, and it does the conversion inside your browser so the photos stay on your device.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your HEIC or HEIF photos, or drag them onto the page. You can select several at once.
  2. Move the quality slider if you want a smaller file (90% is a good balance for photos).
  3. Preview the results and download each JPG.

Good to know

  • HEIC files are compressed more efficiently than JPG, so the JPG will usually be larger than the original.
  • Metadata such as camera details and location is usually not carried into the converted file.
  • Very large batches can run out of memory on older phones. Convert in smaller groups if the page slows down.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I open HEIC photos on my computer?

HEIC is a newer format that not every operating system or app supports out of the box. Converting to JPG gives you a file that nearly every device and website accepts.

Is HEIC the same as HEIF?

They are closely related. HEIF is the container standard and HEIC is the variant iPhones use for photos. This tool accepts both file extensions.

Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a small amount of quality is lost. At the default 90% setting the difference is hard to see in normal use. Choose PNG instead if you need a lossless copy.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is processed in your browser and its contents are not sent to DockFlip. The first time you use a tool, your browser may download the conversion library it needs from a public CDN (cdnjs or jsDelivr), but that download does not include your file.

Is DockFlip free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no cap on how many files you convert. The only limits are file size (100 MB per file) and what your device can handle in memory. Ads may be added later to cover running costs.

Why might a conversion fail?

The file may be damaged, in a format your browser cannot read, password-protected, or too large for your device’s memory. Try one file at a time, or a smaller file, and make sure you have a connection the first time so the converter can load.
