Privacy Policy
DockFlip converts your files inside your browser. We do not upload, view or store the contents of your files. We only collect what you choose to send us, such as a contact form message, plus the basic technical data any website receives.
1. Who we are
DockFlip (“DockFlip”, “we”, “us”) is a free website that offers browser-based tools for converting, compressing and combining images and PDFs. We operate from India. You can reach us at dockflip.assist@gmail.com.
This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use this website, why, and what choices you have. It applies to all pages and tools on DockFlip.
2. Your files
The conversion tools run inside your browser. When you convert a file, its contents are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to, viewed by or stored on DockFlip servers.
- The first time you use a tool, your browser may download the open-source library it needs (for example PDF, HEIC or ZIP libraries) from public content delivery networks such as cdnjs or jsDelivr. These downloads do not include your files.
- The Background Remover downloads an AI model file from Hugging Face the first time you use it and keeps it in your browser cache so it does not have to download it again. Your photo itself is still processed on your device.
- If you drop files on the homepage, they are handed to the tool page through temporary storage in your browser (IndexedDB). They are removed as soon as the tool page picks them up, or after two minutes.
3. Information we collect
Information you send us
If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, plus anything else you choose to include. Please do not include sensitive information in your message.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and content delivery provider receives technical data when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This data appears in server logs and is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
Information stored on your device
DockFlip stores a few small settings in your browser, such as your light or dark theme choice. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data.
4. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of service providers. When you use the site, your browser may connect to them directly, and they may receive your IP address and basic browser information.
| Service | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| Hosting and CDN provider | Serves the website and keeps it secure and fast. |
| Google Fonts | Delivers the Inter Tight typeface used for headings. |
| cdnjs, jsDelivr | Deliver open-source conversion libraries to your browser. |
| Hugging Face | Hosts the AI model file used by the Background Remover. |
| FormSubmit | Forwards contact form messages to our email inbox. |
| Gmail (Google) | Our email service, where contact messages are received and answered. |
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.
5. Advertising
DockFlip is free to use. We may show ads in future, for example through Google AdSense, to cover running costs. Ads will never be placed between you and a download button. If we turn ads on, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before ad cookies or similar identifiers are used.
Advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve, measure and personalise ads. For Google, see how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites. You can manage personalised ads in Google Ads Settings.
6. How we use information
- To reply to your messages and requests.
- To operate, secure, maintain and improve the website and its tools.
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam and technical problems.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the contents of your files for any purpose.
7. Legal basis and consent
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process the personal data you send through the contact form on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting the form, and for other purposes permitted by law. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are your consent (contact form) and our legitimate interests in running and securing the website.
9. How long we keep information
Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up, and are then deleted. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention rules. Settings stored in your browser stay there until you clear your site data.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and keeping your files on your device is the strongest protection we can offer. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct or erase the personal data we hold about you, to withdraw your consent, or to nominate another person to exercise your rights under applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK you may also ask us to restrict or stop processing, or to port your data, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
To make a request, email dockflip.assist@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
12. Children
DockFlip is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. International data transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including outside India. By using the website and sending us a message, you understand that your information may be transferred and processed there.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, make the change clear on the website. Please check back regularly.
15. Contact and grievances
For questions about this policy, to exercise your rights, or to raise a privacy concern or grievance, email dockflip.assist@gmail.com.
