About Compress Image

Large photos are slow to email, upload and load. This tool re-saves your images as smaller JPG files using the quality level you choose. It runs entirely in your browser, so you can shrink private photos without sending them anywhere.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your images, or drag them onto the page.
  2. Set the quality. 70–80% usually gives a big saving with little visible change.
  3. Compare the sizes in the results and download the smaller files.

Good to know

  • The output is always JPG. A PNG with transparency will get a white background.
  • If the result is not small enough, lower the quality or reduce the dimensions with Resize Image first.
  • Compressing an already compressed JPG again can lower quality further, so keep your originals.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my image get?

It depends on the image. Large camera photos often shrink by more than half at 70–80% quality, while images that are already small or heavily compressed shrink less.

Can I compress a PNG without turning it into a JPG?

Not with this tool. It outputs JPG files. Use it for photos and screenshots where transparency is not needed.

What quality setting should I use?

For sharing and uploads, 70–85% is a good range. Use 90% or higher when you want to keep as much detail as possible.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is processed in your browser and its contents are not sent to DockFlip. The first time you use a tool, your browser may download the conversion library it needs from a public CDN (cdnjs or jsDelivr), but that download does not include your file.

Is DockFlip free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no cap on how many files you convert. The only limits are file size (100 MB per file) and what your device can handle in memory. Ads may be added later to cover running costs.

Why might a conversion fail?

The file may be damaged, in a format your browser cannot read, password-protected, or too large for your device’s memory. Try one file at a time, or a smaller file, and make sure you have a connection the first time so the converter can load.
