About Image to WebP

WebP images are typically smaller than equivalent JPG or PNG files, which helps web pages load faster. Choose your images, set a quality level and download WebP versions. The conversion runs in your browser.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your images, or drag them onto the page.
  2. Set the quality. Around 80% is a common starting point for websites.
  3. Download the WebP files.

Good to know

  • WebP export depends on your browser. Current Chrome, Edge and Firefox can do it. If yours cannot, you will see a message instead of a wrong file.
  • Transparency is kept for images that have it.
  • Check that every place you plan to use the image supports WebP. Some older apps and email clients do not.

Frequently asked questions

Is WebP better than JPG?

For websites, usually yes: similar quality at a smaller file size. For sharing with people or apps you do not control, JPG is the safer choice because support is universal.

Does WebP support transparency?

Yes. Unlike JPG, WebP can keep transparent backgrounds.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is processed in your browser and its contents are not sent to DockFlip. The first time you use a tool, your browser may download the conversion library it needs from a public CDN (cdnjs or jsDelivr), but that download does not include your file.

Is DockFlip free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no cap on how many files you convert. The only limits are file size (100 MB per file) and what your device can handle in memory. Ads may be added later to cover running costs.

Why might a conversion fail?

The file may be damaged, in a format your browser cannot read, password-protected, or too large for your device’s memory. Try one file at a time, or a smaller file, and make sure you have a connection the first time so the converter can load.
